STYLING A NORTHAMPTONSHIRE HOLIDAY RENTAL - CORNFORTH COTTAGE
Cornforth Cottage is a short term holiday cottage in the Northamptonshire village of Spratton. Full of character and personality, it's the perfect retreat to escape to the countryside. I recently worked with the owner and Cult Social to update the interior design of the property, as well as styling and creating photography and video content to use across social media and property listing websites.
ABOUT THE PROPERTY:
Being a traditional stone cottage, the property already had beautiful original features, such as the wooden floors, beams and a fireplace, but the owner wanted to update it to create a cosy, inviting feel. White walls create the perfect blank canvas, but can sometimes feel a little cold, so our aim was to add more colour and character.
THE DESIGN PROCESS:
After working with the owner to determine their needs, style and preferences, I created a moodboard to show ideas and suggested products. There were already large furniture pieces such as sofas, beds and bedside tables, so these were incorporated into the design. Because we wanted to create a vintage feel in keeping with the property, I sourced a lot of second hand item, such as artwork, pottery and books, as well as creating a shopping list from the high street to keep it budget friendly. The property was painted throughout, with a colour pop on the en-suite bath panel and a fresh colour for the front door. On install day, I made up the beds, styled shelves, rearranged some layouts and ensured everything was ready to be photographed.
THE CONTENT:
Extra styling can help to elevate photography and video and at Cornforth Cottage I created a colourful tablescape using items already in the cottage, brought in a beautiful bouquet of flowers and set the scene in the kitchen with fresh bread and bubbles.
I delivered 24 high resolution images and three video concepts; one showing off the property and closeby amenities, one showcasing the updates in the property and another of local attractions to visit. Using my phone to take both high quality photos and videos allows to keep costs down and create a full package of content to be used across your website and social media.
